Women On Ice Headed to the UP OF MICHIGAN!
The 2022 Women on Ice Team is excited to travel to the UP of Michigan for the very first time. Team Member Barb Carey was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and has been fishing in that area for many years. Last season Barb and Shelly Holland went on a searching expedition and found 14-inch crappies and 10-inch bluegills. What a great place to invite the public back to fish with the team.
We still have media work to do, but we want to make building a community of Women Ice Anglers a priority. This time we are offering two separate classes for two skill levels. All attendees will be invited to a seminar on Friday night Jan 14th. Talk to the Women On Ice Team and learn some tips and tricks to improve your skills.
On Saturday, the team will work with newer anglers during an all-day on the ice clinic. All equipment will be provided. Work with the team and learn about getting started in Ice fishing, or increasing your skill set. The gear is top notch using insulated shelters by Clam Outdoors, electronics from Vexilar and underwater cameras will show you how to present your bait to make it irresistible to the fish.
On Sunday, we are offering an advanced clinic. Many gals have been collecting their own gear and have been ice fishing independently for some time. This clinic will help you learn how to hunt down those big panfish. We will be on the move and all attendees will need their own gear including on ice transportation. Fish with the pro’s and see how they break down the water and work together to find the fish. From mapping to hole hopping, to jigging techniques to bring more fish top side. Take your newly learned skills back home with you to be the leader of your fishing crew at home.
Since this is a media event, you may be filmed, and you may be part of a TV show. If you do not want to be filmed, please let us know in advance. Your picture and videos may be used to promote Women On Ice and inspire others to take up the sport of Ice Fishing.
*All participants need proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test that is within 72 hours prior to the event.
